The recent problems at Ohio State, University of Southern California, University of Tennessee, University of Michigan and a number of other schools brought the problems of college athletics in line. Scandals such as these have been taken regularly for over 30 years. A special school, the Southern Methodist University, was the football program the “death penalty” given by the NCAA in 1987 (1 year ban from competition) for its repeated violations during 1980.
This article points out, that can really hurt a sports program and how they do some serious damage there.
Who: Boosters
These people are either graduates of the college / university or close links with the school. They give their time and / or money to their alma mater, so that schools can do well in school and athletics as well. For most, they ensure that athletes perform, not only in the classroom, but also in the field or court. Plus, they are a second family for athletes because they help support the players through the advice and offer them once a day not to play for Athletic permission. continue reading…
